COACHING FOR PARENTS
(Parenthood & Family Therapy)
Psychological disturbances are most often a result of emotional imbalances; the root cause of which are trauma, lack of compassion and understanding, or unexpressed potential. Living in the past stifles a person’s ability to take a step forward and fearing the future gives no space to experience freedom and explore possibilities. This is true for adults and is equally true for young learners too.
In my capacity as a School Director since 1993, I lovingly share with thousands of Parents that children do not come with a handbook. Every child is an individual who expresses his/her own needs, as well as personal likes and dislikes. Also, every child is a unique combination of multiple traits, aptitude and creative potential.
We all wish the best for our children, we wish them success, health and happiness. It is important to support our sons and daughters in every aspect of their life without imposing our own experiences and pre-dispositions. At the same time, we wish to spare them from unfortunate circumstances and unnecessary situations. This is a very delicate process. We most often know what is necessary to love and safeguard them, but we are not always equipped with the “know how” of the approach to nurture their growth on all levels. The question is “How can we support them without over-riding their individuality?”
Physical, mental and emotional health are equally important. A holistic approach is necessary for the advancement and support of the child. Healing the family relationship through modalities for wellbeing include counselling and coaching, psychotherapy, holistic nutrition, mindfulness and yoga therapy. These practices, applied individually or in combination, offer the intellect an opportunity to rest and engage in constructive contemplation. Being present in the moment brings the body and mind in unison, balance being the natural outcome. From this balanced place, parents can become aware of their children’s needs (expressed and unexpressed) and be present for them in the best way possible.
Our workshops offer families Parenthood Programmes to address various challenges and behaviour issues in a healthy way. The modules present methods to enhance a harmonious relationship at home and provide techniques for Parents to show their sons and daughters how to creatively navigate through the early stages of their life. This programme is for Parents of young learners between the age of 4 – 9 and 10 – 16 years.
